This episode is going out on both The Gamer Traveler and The Digital Front feeds; my apologies if you get them both.
I had the opportunity and fortune to fly out to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend the GAMA Trade Show 2008, April 20-24 (though I was there April 22-24). There I was able to see a lot of the new games coming out this year, demo some of them, and talk to a lot of industry folks about the current state of gaming and the future of our hobby and industry. I hope you enjoy the report.

Just an FYI, recently I had a bunch of problems with this site and the WordPress installation, so after my host made things worse by moving things to different folders, I just restarted and imported the posts. Things should be working fine now, but I now need to redesign the site to where I had it before. Please excuse the out-of-the-box installation and know I’m working to fix it up. Come back in a few days and check.

In The Gamer Traveler - Episode 10 I chat with Dan Repperger of the Fear the Boot Podcast about his one-week cruise. We talk about their itinerary, the art of doing nothing on a cruise, the LARP cruise and how to draw inspiration from cruises for your games (two words: capital starships!).

On March 4, 2008 - GM’s Day - Dungeons & Dragons co-creator E. Gary Gygax passed away. These are just some quick thoughts about the man, and what he, and his creation, meant to me. Godspeed, Gary. So long and thank you for the games.

In The Gamer Traveler - Episode 09 I talk with Kim Maita of Gamer Adventures, a travel agency dedicated to offering vacations for gamers! Kim and I talk about the history of her company, what vacations for gamers are like, and the packages she currently offers to her clients, as well as some ideas for what’s coming in the future, especially the packages to Gen Con Australia. There is also information on a new contest sponsored by WizKids Games where you can win packs of Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars PocketModel games.

There will be a short hiatus on the podcast; between being sick and voiceless for a couple of weeks and the Thanksgiving holidays, I’ve fallen a bit behind.
There will be a new episode during the second week of Dec. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Here is a 1:20 minute version of the promo for The Gamer Traveler, showing the difference between a regular guy as a tour guide and The Gamer Traveler as a tour guide.
This one will become the basis for a whole campaign as I replace the bit about the Colosseum with other iconic sites.
Enjoy.

Fresh from the awesomeness that is Gen Con, Daniel sits down with his friend Josh Hoade to record their impressions of the convention, talk about the great time each had in Indy, and the games they played and brought back to Miami.

I am out the door and headed to Indianapolis for Gen Con 2007!
I will be out from Wednesday, Aug. 15 through Sunday, Aug. 19, and while I will have internet access in Indy, it will be spotty as I will be gaming my brains out.
If you want to find me at Gen Con, I will be at the Podcasting 101 panel (Friday 8/17, 10-11 AM, Mariott Santa Fe), the Before Turning the Mic On Podcasting panel (Friday 8/17, 1-2 PM, Mariott Santa Fe), the Podcasting Fan Booth (Friday 8/17, 5-6 PM, Exhibit Hall Entrance), and at the Gaming Podcasting Party (Saturday 8/18, 7-9 PM, Hyatt Cosmopolitan B). Aside from these, I will be walking around doing interviews and just checking out the awesome games, not to mention playing, playing, playing. Just look for the big guy with an Irish hat (see below) and a Highmoon Media Productions or The Gamer Traveler Podcast t-shirt.

See you next week!
